Concrete Foundations for New Builds & Home Additions Across Pittsburg, Oakland & the East Bay

We pour slab-on-grade foundations, stem walls and footings, and structural pads for light commercial work, with footing depth set from your soil and load.

Contra Costa clay expands when it takes on winter water and contracts through the dry months. A foundation that ignores that cycle transfers the movement straight into the framing above it.

Slab-on-grade is the usual answer for level lots and additions. Stem wall and pier systems make more sense where the ground slopes or where crawl space access matters.

That decision comes from the soil and the site, not from a price sheet. We assess grade, drainage and load before recommending a system, then specify footing depth, reinforcement schedule and moisture control to match.

One clarification worth making early: we pour new foundations. We do not do foundation repair, underpinning or house lifting, and we will refer you to a specialist if that is what your home needs.

Why Elite Development Builders

Concrete Foundation Questions We Get Weekly

  • Do you repair existing foundations?

No. We pour new foundations for new construction and additions. Foundation repair, underpinning and house lifting are a different trade with different equipment, and we will refer you rather than take the job.

  • Slab-on-grade or a raised foundation?

Slab-on-grade is faster and less expensive on a level lot. A raised stem wall foundation handles slope better and leaves crawl space access for plumbing and mechanical runs. Your lot usually makes the decision for you.

  • How deep do footings need to be?

Depth is set by soil conditions, the load above and your local code rather than by a standard number. We confirm it against your jurisdiction's requirements and the soil at your site.

  • Do you pour commercial foundations?

Yes. We pour footings and structural pads for light commercial and industrial projects alongside our residential work.

  • How long does a foundation take?

Most residential foundations run one to three weeks of site time depending on size, excavation and inspection scheduling. Permit approval is usually the longest variable, and we handle that filing.
